Goodbye Zombies, Hello Snotrockets

The third season of “The Walking Dead” has drawn to a close. And while I was not thrilled with the season finale (too subdued for my taste, although Andrea dying was a plus) I mourned the loss of my weekly zombie fix. No more zombies until October? No more Daryl Dixon and his mighty crossbow until this fall? Oh no what to do? Wait, it’s April. Oh yes, baseball! San Francisco Giants! Madison Bumgarner! Snotrockets! I am saved.

Yes, zombie season has ended and baseball season has begun. Madison Bumgarner started the second game of the 2013 season for the Giants, on the road versus the hated Los Angeles Dodgers. Bumgarner got the win and he pitched a beaut. What’s more, his snotrocketry continues to dazzle and delight if not everyone then at least me.

Here are Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for April 2, 2013, on the road, vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers:

  • W, 8.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 K, 0 HR, 17 SNR (snotrockets): 7 vs. righties, 1 vs. lefties, 9 other. 1 at-bat and 1 double SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 8th in which he blew 6 snotrockets.

Thanks to one of my fellow Giants fans on Twitter, @SanDiegoGiants, for screencapping Bumgarner’s first (televised) snotrocket of the 2013 season:

Bumgarner had seventeen snotrockets in his first start of the season. He sets a high bar. His next start should be Monday, April 8 at home vs. the Colorado Rockies. See you here or on Twitter (I live-tweet all the exciting Bumgarner snotrocket action you can handle. Username: @Fawn_Liebowitz ).
