Flat Snotrockets

The San Francisco Giants were flat last night, only mustering up 4 hits and losing to the Pirates 5-0. Madison Bumgarner was also flat, giving up 4 runs in a long and horrible 1st inning. Even the snotrockets refused to perk up and were flat as well, with nary a double or at-bat snotrocket to dazzle the fans. Flat as a pancake. Sigh.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Monday, July 28, 2014 at home vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates:

  • L, 4.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 11 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 8 vs. righties, 3 other.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 1st in which he blew 7 snotrockets.
  • The 7 snotrockets that Madison Bumgarner blew in the 1st inning were the most that Bumgarner has blown in one inning since April 5, 2014 (7 in 7th inning on the road vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers).
  • Bumgarner now with 286 snotrockets in the 2014 season.

Even though last night’s snotrockets were pretty routine a true Bumgarner snotrocket fan will always enjoy a good snotrocket screencap. In the midst of last night’s listlessness  @SanDiegoGiants still managed to get some great screencaps so all was not lost. Here’s a rather placid snotrocket from that violent first inning. Note the delicate placement of finger against nose. Truly a snotrocket artist.

Another less delicate snotrocket from the same inning:

And the last snotrocket from that mucus-laden 1st inning:

No matter how uninspiring a Giants game might be the snotrockets will keep us coming back for more. Because regardless of how he pitches Madison Bumgarner will always be the snotrocket king:

Bumgarner’s next start should be Sunday, August 3, 2014 on the road vs. the New York Mets. See you here or on Twitter (I live tweet the snotrockets) for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Soggy Snotrockets

The San Francisco Giants were in Philadelphia Wednesday night. Also in Philly last night: a 59 minute non-rain rain delay, then some actual rain but no rain delay, some lightning

Giants-2014-07-23-vs Phillies-Lightning

and a whole lot of snotrockets.  Plus a fabulously pitched game by Madison Bumgarner. Plus a Giants win. But the snotrockets, you say. What about the snotrockets? Of course. Here we go.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Wednesday, July 23, 2014 on the road vs. the Philadelphia Phillies:

  • W, 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 K, 18 SNR (snotrockets): 4 vs. lefties, 5 vs. righties, 9 other. 5 double SNR. 1 at-bat SNR. 3 mound visit SNRs with catcher Buster Posey in attendance.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 8th in which he blew 6 snotrockets.

  • Madison Bumgarner now with 275 snotrockets in this 2014 season.

The world’s record holder for most awesome Bumgarner snotrocket screencaps, @SanDiegoGiants, produced some rainy day winners last night. Settle in and enjoy, you’re going to be here a while,  because like I mentioned earlier Bumgarner produced a metric ton of mucus in last night’s game. Bonus: Giants catcher Buster Posey made a special guest appearance in several snotrocket screencaps. Here are Bumgarner and Posey and a snotrocket in the 2nd inning:

And another one immediately afterward:

A solo snotrocket also in the 2nd, after pitching a scoreless inning:

Would a little rain affect Madison Bumgarner’s dedication to the job of snotrocketing? I think not:

An at-bat snotrocket in the 5th inning:

Bumgarner keeping up his steady snotrocket pace, this time in the bottom of the 5th inning:

Bumgarner showed no signs of slowing down as the game wore on. In the 8th inning:

Bumgarner was busy in the 8th, with runners on base and snotrockets in the air:

Even though it was a stressful inning Madison Bumgarner’s the best and he always finds the time to snotrocket:

The last snotrocket of the game was again witnessed by Buster Posey:

Bonus screencap: Bumgarner found a new place to wear his glove:

Floridian Snotrockets

Tonight in Miami:

Tweets-FL-Closed Roof

Madison Bumgarner opened up the second half of the 2014 season with a nice start and a win against the Marlins. The Giants tried something different and put up crooked numbers in several innings including the 5th where they scored 5 runs and put the game away:

This next snotrocket screencap is especially awesome. Look closely and you’ll see the actual trajectory of the snotrocket shooting out of Bumgarner’s nose:

Grand Slam Snotrockets? Encore!

Remember back in April of this year when Madison Bumgarner blew some snotrockets, hit a grand slam and won a game? Yeah it happened again. Whoo hoo!

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Sunday, July 13, 2014 at home vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks:

  • W, 6.1 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 1 HR, 15 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 7 vs. righties, 8 other. 3 double SNR. 1 at-bat SNR. 1 on-base SNR. 1 dugout SNR.

Your favorite snotrocket screencapper @SanDiegoGiants captured several good snotrockets in today’s game. Here’s one from the 3rd inning:

One of 3 double snotrockets that Bumgarner blew in today’s game:

Fuzzy snotrocket closeups. First the right nostril:

And the left:

Another double snotrocket, later that same inning:

More double snotrockets means more closeups. First the left nostril:

And then the right nostril:

The chance to see some Madison Bumgarner All Star Game snotrockets on Tuesday was squelched with Bumgarner pitching today; Giants pitcher Tim Hudson takes Bumgarner’s spot on the National League roster. So unless Troy Tulowitzki wises up and picks Bumgarner to hit in the Home Run Derby then it’s wait til next year for some Bumgarner snotrockets in the Midsummer Classic. Sigh.

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be this Friday, July 18, 2014 on the road vs. the Miami Marlins. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Bay Bridge Snotrockets

Even when the San Francisco Giants lose a Bumgarner start I can always find consolation in the snotrockets. But when there’s so few of them I am left desolate and also somewhat suspicious. A Giants loss is one thing. But when an inordinately small amount of snotrockets is tacked on to the loss then the mind naturally turns to thoughts of sabotage:

Tweets-FL-Bumgarner-Snotrocket Conspiracy

Others shared my suspicion and looked for likely suspects:

Tweets-SanDiegoGiants-Claritin

I looked for a solution:

Tweets-FL-Mucinex

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Tuesday, July 8, 2014 on the road vs. the Oakland A’s:

  • L, 7.0 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 0 HR, 4 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 4 vs. righties, 0 other.
  • Madison Bumgarner blew one snotrocket in the 3rd, 5th, 6th & 8th innings.
  • Bumgarner now with 231 snotrockets in 2014.

Even thought there were so few snotrockets in last night’s game @SanDiegoGiants still managed to capture a couple of on-screen beauties. Here’s one from the 3rd inning:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-07-08

And another from the 6th inning:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-07-08-1

So few snotrockets drove some to despair:

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be this Sunday, July 13, 2014 at home vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action. And pray for snotrockets.

Lackluster Snotrockets

Another Giants loss. Few snotrockets. No screencaps. Move along, nothing to see here.

Oh wait, the snotrocket stats. You want those of course. It’s all we Giants fans have right now. [sighs]

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Thursday, July 3, 2014 at home vs. the St. Louis Cardinals:

  • L, 5.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HR, 5 SNR (snotrockets): 2 vs. lefties, 2 vs. righties, 1 other. 1 double SNR.

  • Bumgarner now has 13 snotrockets vs. the Cards and 227 snotrockets overall in 2014.

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be next Tuesday, July 8, 2014 on the road (yeah really just across the bay) vs. the Oakland Athletics. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting [sighs] snotrocket action.
