Flat Snotrockets

The San Francisco Giants were flat last night, only mustering up 4 hits and losing to the Pirates 5-0. Madison Bumgarner was also flat, giving up 4 runs in a long and horrible 1st inning. Even the snotrockets refused to perk up and were flat as well, with nary a double or at-bat snotrocket to dazzle the fans. Flat as a pancake. Sigh.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Monday, July 28, 2014 at home vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates:

  • L, 4.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 11 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 8 vs. righties, 3 other.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 1st in which he blew 7 snotrockets.
  • The 7 snotrockets that Madison Bumgarner blew in the 1st inning were the most that Bumgarner has blown in one inning since April 5, 2014 (7 in 7th inning on the road vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers).
  • Bumgarner now with 286 snotrockets in the 2014 season.

Even though last night’s snotrockets were pretty routine a true Bumgarner snotrocket fan will always enjoy a good snotrocket screencap. In the midst of last night’s listlessness  @SanDiegoGiants still managed to get some great screencaps so all was not lost. Here’s a rather placid snotrocket from that violent first inning. Note the delicate placement of finger against nose. Truly a snotrocket artist.

Another less delicate snotrocket from the same inning:

And the last snotrocket from that mucus-laden 1st inning:

No matter how uninspiring a Giants game might be the snotrockets will keep us coming back for more. Because regardless of how he pitches Madison Bumgarner will always be the snotrocket king:

Bumgarner’s next start should be Sunday, August 3, 2014 on the road vs. the New York Mets. See you here or on Twitter (I live tweet the snotrockets) for all the exciting snotrocket action.
