Oh so close. Madison Bumgarner had a perfect game going against the San Diego Padres with 2 outs in the 8th inning when that awful horrible terrible B.J. (I’m not calling you Melvin) Upton singled. If Bumgarner losing a perfect game in the 8th inning sounds familiar to you then you’re right.
As one might guess I did not handle the loss of a Bumgarner perfect game well:
