The 2011 Madison Bumgarner Vintage Snotrocket Tour continues with stop #2 being a matchup between the Giants and the Dodgers (ew). Bumgarner suffered from some questionable calls by the umpires and ended up with a loss but the snotrockets were plenty so we can’t complain.
Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Monday, April 11, 2011 at home vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers (ew):
- Totals: L, 5.0 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB (1 IBB), 3 K, 1 HR, 12 SNR (snotrockets): 2 vs. lefties, 3 vs. righties, 7 other. 3 at-bat SNR. 1 baseline (1st) SNR.
- Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 5th in which he blew 4 snotrockets.
- Madison Bumgarner now with 17 SNR in the 2011 season.
As I’ve mentioned in other vintage snotrocket posts the film quality for some of these older games isn’t very good; the screen often pixelates and the focus is frequently fuzzy. So even though Bumgarner had a healthy amount of snot in this game I was only able to get two fairly decent quality snotrocket screencaps. This one was from the 4th inning:
And one from the 5th inning:
Madison Bumgarner’s next start after this game was on Sunday, April 17, 2011 on the road vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. When I do this game I’ll probably live tweet it so you can follow me on Twitter for all the exciting Bumgarner vintage snotrocket action or of course you can always come back here for the snot. Thanks for stopping by.
When we last visited the Madison Bumgarner Vintage Snotrocket Tour it was in March 2018 and while I was waiting for the 2018 season to start I was filling the empty snotrocket holes with some vintage Bumgarner mucus. See, I only started doing snotrocket tallying and breakdowns in 2012. All of Bumgarner’s snotrockets in starts and relief appearances before that year had gone uncounted and unclaimed. Orphan snot.
So I decided to go back and rewatch all of his appearances in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons in order to compile complete career snotrocket totals. I had reached as far as a start in September 2010 before having to abort the tallying because MLB goofed and forgot to upload his September 17 start to YouTube. I was discouraged and stopped the vintage tallying altogether for a couple of years before deciding to pick it up again today. I’m leaving the rest of the 2010 season alone for now (I’ll wait until I find out if and when MLB gets around to uploading the game online) and instead I moved on to Bumgarner’s first start in 2011.
Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Tuesday, April 5, 2011 on the road vs. the San Diego Padres:
- L, 3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 5 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 3 vs. righties, 2 other.
- Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 3rd in which he blew 5 snotrockets.
- Madison Bumgarner began the 2011 season with 5 snotrockets.
These old starts don’t have the best video quality so getting a decent snotrocket screencap isn’t easy. Out of the five that Bumgarner blew that day I was only able to capture two and they were fuzzy snotrocket screencaps at that. Here’s one:
And the final snotrocket of the day as he walked off the mound in the 3rd inning:
I also got a screencap of a gesture that Bumgarner doesn’t do anymore in his starts: having a quiet moment behind the mound before throwing his first pitch:
Madison Bumgarner’s next start in 2011 was Monday, April 11, 2011 at home vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers (ew). When I rewatch that game I’ll most likely be live tweeting it at the same time. So join me on Twitter or I’ll see you back here for all the exciting vintage Bumgarner snotrocket action.
