There were a couple of snotrockets in the 5th inning. I’m going to break down one of those for you, in four parts:

1. The approach:

Triumphant Snotrockets

Madison Bumgarner pitched against his old team the San Francisco Giants for only the second time and was victorious twice over because not only did he get the win he also blew some snotrockets.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at home vs. the San Francisco Giants:

  • W, 7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR, 4 SNR (snotrockets): 1 vs. lefties, 2 vs. righties, 1 other. 1 pre-game SNR. 1 double SNR. 4 indoor SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific innings were the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in which he blew 1 snotrocket per inning.
  • Bumgarner now with 147 snot rockets in the 2021 season.

As noted in the stats above these were all indoor snotrockets because the roof was closed at Chase Field. Understandable given the fact that before the game the temperature outside of the ballpark in Phoenix, AZ was a scorching 111° F. Inside the park with the roof closed it was much cooler so Bumgarner was able to blow his snot in relative comfort.

Here’s the first snotrocket of the game, a pre-game one just before the first pitch:

The second inning snotrocket was a double. The left nostril went first:

Then came the right nostril:

Third inning snotrocket:

These were all very nice but the fourth inning snotrocket was my favorite of the night because I was able to catch the spray:

If you can’t see it here’s a closeup:

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be this Sunday, August 8, 2021 on the road vs. the San Diego Padres. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting Bumgarner snotrocket action.

Backed Up Snotrockets

Remember when I said in my last post that I would try to do better and not be late on another Madison Bumgarner snotrocket blog post? I lied, sort of. I mean I did try but…I failed. Bumgarner pitched two games since that post and I’m only now getting around to completing my snotrocket tallying for both of those games. The snot has backed up again. Time to release it.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at home vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates:

  • ND, 5.0 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1, 0 HR, 7 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 6 vs. righties, 1 other. 7 indoor snotrockets.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific innings were the 1st, 3rd and 5th innings in which he blew 2 snotrockets per inning.
  • Bumgarner now with 141 snotrockets in the 2021 season.

Even though he had 7 snotrockets in this game I only managed to get 2 snotrocket screencaps. I think the other ones were too far away or too fuzzy or something. Here’s a nice clear snotrocket from the 1st inning:

Another one from the 1st:

Let’s not waste any time and move right along to the next Bum start. No point in dilly-dallying with his snot.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics from Wednesday, July 28, 2021, on the road vs. the Texas Rangers:
