Wherefore Art Thou Snotrockets

Oh look it’s another “Giants lost, few snotrockets” post. Yay. I can never get enough of those.

It’s only the second week of the season and already I’m cranky and cynical. This is not good. That “3 World Series titles in five years” high didn’t last long. Or at least it lasted until the Giants slid right into a 7 game losing streak. Add to that the fact that Madison Bumgarner is apparently blowing fewer snotrockets this year (more on that later) and it totals up to one cranky Giants fan and snotrocket aficionado.

But on to more important matters. Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Thursday, April 16, 2015 at home vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks:

  • ND, 7.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 1 HBP, 4 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 2 vs. righties, 2 other. 1 double SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner now with 11 snotrockets so far in the 2015 season.

Even though there weren’t many snotrockets in last night’s game @SanDiegoGiants still managed to come up with some great snotrocket screencaps. From Bumgarner’s double snotrocket in the fifth inning here’s the left side:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2015-04-16-1-Left Side

And here’s the right side:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2015-04-16-2-Right Side

And the last snotrocket of the game:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2015-04-16-3

There’s a mystery afoot, or anose, or whatever. Madison Bumgarner appears to be blowing fewer snotrockets this season, when compared to previous seasons. Giants fans took notice on Twitter:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2015-04-16-Twitter

Wherefore art thou snotrockets, Bumgarner? Bring back, oh bring back, bring back my snotrockets to meeeee…yeah okay I’ll stop now.

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at home vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers (eeuww). See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Few And Far Between Snotrockets

Madison Bumgarner’s second outing of the 2015 season was short in innings and short on snotrockets. A lose-lose situation all the way around.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Saturday, April 11, 2015 on the road vs. the San Diego Padres:

  • L, 3.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 2 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 2 vs. righties, 0 other.
  • Bumgarner now with 7 snotrockets so far in the 2015 season.
  • This game’s total of 2 SNR (snotrockets) is the fewest amount of SNR that Bumgarner has blown since 9/13/13 (1 SNR vs. Dodgers).

Snotrocket screencapper @SanDiegoGiants attended the game and got some in-person snotrocket shots. Here’s one early on in the game:

And one impressionistic decapitated snotrocket:

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be Thursday, April 16, 2015 at home vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Royal Snotrockets

Giants-Bumgarner-Sticker-Crown

No not that kind of royal. But any excuse to use that photo.

Last night the San Francisco Giants were in Kansas City to play the Royals. It wasn’t pretty. Except for Bumgarner’s snotrockets. They’re always a work of art, right? Damn straight.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Friday, August 8, 2014 on the road vs. the Kansas City Royals:

  • L, 8.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 1 HR, 11 SNR (snotrockets): 3 vs. lefties, 7 vs. righties, 1 other. 1 double SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 8th in which he blew 3 snotrockets.
  • Bumgarner now with 312 SNR (snotrockets) in 2014, already surpassing his 2013 total of 304 SNR.

Even when Bumgarner takes a loss all is not lost because thanks to @SanDiegoGiants we have snotrocket screencaps to take the sting away. Here’s one from the second inning:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-08-08

And one from the 6th inning:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-08-08-1

One last snotrocket from the 8th inning:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-08-08-2

See, don’t you feel better now? Ahhh, snotrockets.

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be next Friday, August 15, 2014 at home vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. See you here or on Twitter (I live tweet the Bumgarner snotrockets) for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Bat Flips and Snotrockets

Madison Bumgarner beat the Dodgers, blew lots of snotrockets and gave Yasiel Puig a dressing down for either flipping his bat or taking about 5 hours to round the bases after his home run. If it wasn’t for Brandon Belt’s broken thumb (HBP) it would have been a near-perfect night.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Friday, May 9, 2014 on the road vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers:

  • W, 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 HR, 13 SNR (snotrockets): 2 vs. lefties, 6 vs. righties, 5 other. 3 double SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 8th in which he blew 3 snotrockets.
  • Bumgarner now has 41 SNR (snotrockets) vs. the Dodgers this season and 98 SNR overall in 2014.

In the bottom of the 6th inning Dodger outfielder Yasiel Puig hit a solo home run against Bumgarner. Maybe it was the bat flip or maybe it was that Puig took his own sweet time rounding the bases afterwards. Or maybe it was both. Whatever it was Bumgarner was none too pleased with Puig and let him know it as the controversial Dodger eventually neared home plate:

Nothing much came of the incident though. Bumgarner went back to the mound and continued his pitching excellence. Puig went back to the Dodgers dugout and continued his whatever he does. After the game however Bumgarner explained that it was all a misunderstanding:

Tweets-AlexPavlovic-Bumgarner-2014

So droll.

And now on to the best part of the game: the snotrockets. @SanDiegoGiants did us all a favor and captured some good ones tonight. In the 7th inning:

The 8th inning saw a snotrocket after a Dodger strikeout:

At the end of the 8th an especially fierce-looking snotrocket:

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at home vs. the Atlanta Braves. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

P.S. Dodgers suck.

Pinch Hit Snotrocket

The anticipation:

Tweets-FL-Bumgarner-Pinch Hit

Yes. It really happened. You didn’t dream it. Madison Bumgarner pinch hit in tonight’s game.  And though he only lined out to the pitcher he did blow a snotrocket so all was not lost.  In case you don’t believe me then here’s the proof, courtesy of @SanDiegoGiants:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-05-05-Pinch Hit

As of right now the San Francisco Giants are still tied with the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-10 in the 12th inning but if they end up losing then everyone’s blaming this woman:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-05-05-Pinch Hit-Flower Hat-1

Update: the Giants won 11-10 in 13 innings. Curse of the Flower Hat: denied. It was an exciting win for the Giants but of course my mind was on more important things:

Tweets-FL-Havoc With Snotrocket Totals

That was the first pinch hit snotrocket I’ve seen Madison Bumgarner blow. I wasn’t prepared for it and I don’t know what to do with it. I really can’t count it in his regular season snotrocket totals because I only tally the snotrockets that Bumgarner blows during games he starts and this one was blown during a pinch-hit appearance. Oh the dilemma. What to do? I guess just enjoy it for the snotrockety goodness it delivered.

Sunday Snotrockets

Rest on Sunday? Not Madison Bumgarner. There’s a game to pitch. There’s snotrockets to be blown. Let’s get to it.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Sunday, May 4, 2014 on the road vs. the Atlanta Braves:

  • W, 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 1 HR, 19 SNR (snotrockets): 5 vs. lefties, 11 vs. righties, 3 other. 1 on-base SNR, 1 at-bat SNR, 2 double SNR.
  • Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 4th in which he blew 6 snotrockets.
  • Bumgarner also had 2 innings (5th & 6th) in which he blew 5 snotrockets in each inning.
  • Today’s total of 19 snotrockets is the most that Madison Bumgarner has blown in a game since 4/5/14 (18 SNR at Dodgers).

Don’t worry, never fear, @SanDiegoGiants came through with some great snotrocket screencaps from today’s game:

A rare on-base snotrocket:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-05-04-vs Braves-On Base

And a regular snotrocket in the 6th:

Giants-Bumgarner-Snotrocket-2014-05-04-vs Braves

I wish I could live tweet the snotrockets at every single one of Bumgarner’s snots starts. I try my very best to do this but occasionally I have other, less meaningful commitments (work, family functions) and I can’t watch the game live. Whenever this happens I always make sure to watch the game (and tweet snotrocket totals) later that same day , so as to not miss even one Bumgarner snotrocket and thus keep the snotrocket tallies as accurate as possible.

And that’s what occurred today. I wasn’t able to watch the game live on TV.  Then this happened on Twitter:

Twitter-SanDiegoGiants-FL-2014-05-04Twitter-SanDiegoGiants-FL-2014-05-04-1

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be this Friday, May 9, 2014 on the road vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers (eeuww). See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

I’m Running Out of Snotrocket Titles

Only 5 innings for Madison Bumgarner last night. And a loss. And snotrockets. One out of three isn’t too good but I’ll take it.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Monday, April 28, 2014 at home vs. the San Diego Padres:

  • L, 5.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, 1 HR, 11 SNR (snotrockets): 1 vs. lefties, 5 vs. righties, 5 other. 2 pre-game SNR. 1 at-bat SNR.
  • Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 1st in which he blew 4 snotrockets.
  • Madison Bumgarner now has 66 snotrockets so far in 2014.

As if the game’s outcome wasn’t dismal enough there was also this:

No snotrocket screencaps makes everyone sad:

Bumgarner’s next start should be this Sunday, May 4th on the road vs. the Atlanta Braves. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Jersey Snotrockets

The article of clothing, not the state. But the way the San Francisco Giants (didn’t) score tonight against the Colorado Rockies they might as well have been in New Jersey, ’cause the offense barely showed up in Denver.

Tonight’s game saw the first Madison Bumgarner snotrocket into his jersey which was about the only memorable thing from this game, other than Bumgarner’s terrific pitching performance. Hunter Pence hit a solo home  run and that was it for the Giants’ offense. Sigh.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Tuesday, April 22, 2014 on the road vs. the Colorado Rockies:

  • L, 8.0 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB (IBB), 6 K, 2 HR, 12 SNR (snotrockets). 3 vs. lefties, 4 vs. righties, 5 other. 2 double SNR, 2 at-bat SNR, 1 in jersey (at-bat) SNR.
  • Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 6th in which he blew 3 snotrockets.

Thanks and gratitude must go to @SanDiegoGiants  for providing so many great snotrocket screencaps from tonight’s game. Without them this blog would just be a few snotrocket stats and some general overall whining about the lack of Giants offense.  So enjoy the following:

I just have one more thing to say about the lack of Giants offense in tonight’s game:

Oh yes I almost forgot: fuck you Dinger.

Fuzz Free Snotrockets

Madison Bumgarner shaved off his beard. The Giants lost. Coincidence? I think not.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Thursday, April 17, 2014 at home vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers (eeuww):

  • L, 4.1 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 10 SNR (snotrockets): 3 vs. lefties, 4 vs. righties, 3 other. 3 double SNR. 1 mound visit SNR with pitching coach Dave Righetti and catcher Buster Posey in attendance.
  • Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 5th inning in which he blew 5 snotrockets.

I try to live tweet every Madison Bumgarner start but unfortunately it isn’t always possible. People on Twitter are so nice about it 🙂

Grand Slam Snotrockets

Ho hum, just another day at the office for Madison Bumgarner. Lots of pitches, lots of snotrockets and oh yes what else only a Bumgarner GRAND SLAM. See? Just a day like any other.

Yes you read right. Madison Bumgarner hit a grand slam in tonight’s game vs. the Rockies. It was tremendously majestic. If you don’t believe me see for yourself (Click on the following link. I can’t embed the video because WordPress won’t let me do that unless I spend money to upgrade my blog and, well, forget that):  Madison Bumgarner’s grand slam
