Apocalyptic Snotrockets

Signs that the end of the world is near:

  1. Madison Bumgarner had a bad game.
  2. A fan got ejected for heckling an umpire.
  3. Meager amount of snotrockets.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Tuesday, August 2, 2016 on the road vs. the Philadelphia Phillies:

  • ND, 5.0 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 3 SNR (snotrockets): 0 vs. lefties, 1 vs. righties, 2 other.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific innings were the 2nd, 5th and 6th in which he blew 1 snotrocket per inning.
  • Bumgarner now with 171 snotrockets in the 2016 season.

Even though there were so few snotrockets in today’s game bathroom savior and snotrocket screencapper @SanDiegoGiants still managed to capture some SNRs to ease the pain of Giants fans and give them something to feel good about. Comely snotrocket from the 5th inning:

One last thing about that heckling incident in tonight’s game:

Orange Friday Snotrockets

I’m not a fan of the Giants home Friday orange jerseys. I like the color orange but as an accent color only.  The Giants regular uniform colors (home cream and road grey) are very simple and classy. No need to mess with perfection. I only bring this up because I’m running out of snotrocket post titles and had to put something up there.

Madison Bumgarner pitched well tonight and in fact left the game with a 2 run lead but the Giants bullpen let him down and gave up 4 runs, sticking Bumgarner with a no-decision. As I’m writing this now they’re in the bottom of the 10th inning and the Giants are trailing the Phillies 5-3.  [Update: Giants lost. Boo hiss]

But on to happier things. Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Friday, August 15, 2014 at home vs. the Philadelphia Phillies:

  • ND, 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 1 HR, 14 SNR (snotrockets): 4 vs. lefties, 6 vs. righties, 4 other. 1 pre-game SNR. 2 double SNR. 1 at-bat SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 1st in which he blew 4 snotrockets.
  • Bumgarner now with 32 snotrockets vs. the Phillies and 326 snotrockets overall in 2014.

For your snotrocket viewing pleasure @SanDiegoGiants produced some gifs and a screencap from tonight’s game. But for some reason his gifs came out like videos and I can’t upload videos here without upgrading this blog which means spending money which means forget it. But here’s some links to the snotrocket gifs so you won’t miss out:

Soggy Snotrockets

The San Francisco Giants were in Philadelphia Wednesday night. Also in Philly last night: a 59 minute non-rain rain delay, then some actual rain but no rain delay, some lightning

and a whole lot of snotrockets.  Plus a fabulously pitched game by Madison Bumgarner. Plus a Giants win. But the snotrockets, you say. What about the snotrockets? Of course. Here we go.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Wednesday, July 23, 2014 on the road vs. the Philadelphia Phillies:

  • W, 8.0 IP, 5 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER, 6 K, 18 SNR (snotrockets): 4 vs. lefties, 5 vs. righties, 9 other. 5 double SNR. 1 at-bat SNR. 3 mound visit SNRs with catcher Buster Posey in attendance.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 8th in which he blew 6 snotrockets.
  • Bumgarner’s 18 SNR (snotrockets) in tonight’s game is his highest total of snotrockets blown since 05/25/14 (19 SNR vs. the Minnesota Twins).
  • Madison Bumgarner now with 275 snotrockets in this 2014 season.

The world’s record holder for most awesome Bumgarner snotrocket screencaps, @SanDiegoGiants, produced some rainy day winners last night. Settle in and enjoy, you’re going to be here a while,  because like I mentioned earlier Bumgarner produced a metric ton of mucus in last night’s game. Bonus: Giants catcher Buster Posey made a special guest appearance in several snotrocket screencaps. Here are Bumgarner and Posey and a snotrocket in the 2nd inning:

And another one immediately afterward:

A solo snotrocket also in the 2nd, after pitching a scoreless inning:

Would a little rain affect Madison Bumgarner’s dedication to the job of snotrocketing? I think not:

Bumgarner showed no signs of slowing down as the game wore on. In the 8th inning:

Bumgarner was busy in the 8th, with runners on base and snotrockets in the air:

Even though it was a stressful inning Madison Bumgarner’s the best and he always finds the time to snotrocket:

The last snotrocket of the game was again witnessed by Buster Posey:

One Loss And Many Snotrockets

Madison Bumgarner picked up his first loss of the 2013 season last night. Not his best game, pitching-wise, but a pretty good game snotrocket-wise.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Monday, May 6, 2013 at home vs. the Philadelphia Phillies:

  • L, 6.0 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1 HR, 10 SNR (snotrockets): 2 vs. lefties, 1 vs. righties, 7 other. 1 pre-game and 1 dugout SNR.
  • Madison Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 2nd in which he blew 3 snotrockets.

Bumgarner’s next start should be this Saturday, May 11 in San Francisco vs. the Atlanta Braves. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.

Accurate Snotrockets

Poor Madison Bumgarner. He pitched extremely well (again) but got a no decision tonight. The Giants did pull out a win in the 9th inning though, thanks to Pablo Sandoval’s non-fat 2 run homer, and beat the DBacks 2-1. So all is well.

Here are Madison Bumgarner’s snotrocket totals and other vital statistics for Tuesday, April 30, 2013 on the road vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks:

  • ND, 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2, K, 0 HR, 11 SNR (snotrockets): 2 vs. lefties, 6 vs. righties, 3 other.
  • Bumgarner’s most prolific inning was the 4th in which he blew 4 snotrockets.

Above all I strive to be as accurate as possible when tallying Bumgarner’s snotrockets. Sometimes it’s difficult to determine if what Bumgarner’s doing out on the mound is actually blowing a snotrocket or something else. Usually that happens when the camera angle is from centerfield; Bumgarner’s on the mound, his back is to the camera and occasionally it’s hard to tell what’s going on out there. Is it a snotrocket? Is he blowing into his hand? Or is it something else? After going over the footage of a questionable snotrocket in the third inning many times I posted this on Twitter:

Accuracy is all important when tallying Bumgarner’s snotrockets. Without it where would we be? In a world of snotrocket confusion. No thank you. I need snotrocket clarity in my life. We all do.

Madison Bumgarner’s next start should be Monday, May 6, at home vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. See you here or on Twitter for all the exciting snotrocket action.
